Why Academic Support?
Children with learning or thinking differences may have challenges in certain basic pre-requisite skills, including reading, writing, listening, math or reasoning.
Difficulties in these pre-requisite skills may affect their ability to cope with more complex academic skills in later grades.
Thus, the sooner and more specifically these are addressed, the better the chances of long-term academic success.
A traditional tutor may not understand your child’s learning or thinking differences to be able to employ the right teaching methods. An academic therapist can bridge this gap by employing the right methods and setting children up for academic success.
Who is it for?
Common learning differences which may need specialized support include:
DYSLEXIA: Difficulty with reading, writing, spelling, speaking
DYSCACULIA: Difficulty doing math problems, understanding time and money, remembering math facts
DYSGRAPHIA: Difficulty with handwriting, spelling, organizing ideas
DYSPRAXIA: Difficulty with hand-eye coordination, balance, fine motor skills
AUDITORY PROCESSING ORDER: Difficulty interpreting what the ear hears (which is different from having a hearing impairment)
VISUAL PROCESSING ISSUES: Difficulty interpreting what the eye sees (which is different from having a visual impairment)

Academic Support at BE
At BE, our academic support programs follow a tailored approach. The services and strategies that may be used with one child may not be the same for another. In other words, this is not a “one size fits all” approach
Depending on the child’s need, our specialists follow unique and innovative teaching methods, including multi-sensory methods to help with teaching the concepts in a way that our children can understand easily. We also use ABA-based teaching methods to help with retention of skills learnt and generalising these skills across settings.
Our team is also trained to address various academic challenges, with specialized therapists for reading, writing, math & language.
We follow a highly intensive teaching approach with a 1:1 or 2:1 student-teacher ratio, to help give the individualized attention that children may need.
